Project: Obtaining scandium from metallurgical waste of nickel mining in Cuba using HPAL technology

Cuba is one of the largest Ni and Co producers in the world. Lateritic ore processing using HPAL technology produces wastes that have a harmful effect on the environment. The possibility of giving a second use to these residuals, from the extraction of new chemical elements, not only has economic interest, but also reduces the environmental impact of the mining process. The main objective of this project is the extraction of scandium from the residual liquor processing of the metallurgical mining industry in Cuba. For this, it is proposed to use the HPAL technology installed in the country proposing to modify the current technological scheme.
